RODFEI KODESH-Pursuit of HOLINESS
Lexus ran a commercial slogan when the brand first came out, "the relentless pursuit of perfection.
They understood that in the material world, especially with a product made by humans, perfection was impossible but the pursuit was not. Only God is perfect. So too with humans, perfection is unattainable but aspiring to be better is a must. Rodfei Kodesh-pursuers of holiness, as we all strive to live better lives. If you have already achieved perfect holiness, this course is not for you
2. Brand new program to serve the needs of Jews and those who want to explore Judaism on Chicago's South Side. The program, to be called Gevurot, is being organized by Amram Abraham, a Rabbinical student at the Rabbinical Seminary of the Deaf in Skokie, and is assisted by Rabbi Jonathan Ginsburg, Director of Esynagogue.
Initially there will be two components of Gevurot. There will be a monthly Shabbat service to be held at Rodfei Zedek Congregation in Hyde Park. -5200 S Hyde Park Blvd, (The service will be 10-11:30 Am, and will include the morning service, Torah reading and Haftorah (prophets), sermons and treachings. This will be followed by a pot luck milchik and parve lunch. Following the lunch, for those who wish to explore Judaism for the purposes of possible conversion, there will be a class conducted by Ginsburg and Abraham.
The target Congregation are African Americans, but all are welcomed, even if you do not live on the South side!! The first two services are May 21 and June 11.

Rsvps are necessary so we can assign contributions for the pot luck (need challah, drinks, grape juice, entrees, side dishes, dessert, paper goods) and plan accordingly.
