Email-small world story

What a small world we live in.  I was one of three on the Beit Din of a wonderful young lady this afternoon.  Her name is Val.The Rabbi at the Reform Temple here tries to have someone that has converted to Judaism on the panel.  This time I was fortunately asked. Through the course of questions, Val and I discovered that weboth know your through your videos!  The others on the panel were at a loss to our excitement.  We both had big smiles on our faces and it really broke the ice. ValWe had a chance to talk after the Beit Din, before her Mikvah, about all the things we learned from you.  We both lived rather far awayfrom a Synagogue and your were our lifeline to Judaism. I hope you understand the scope of the good work that you do.  I personally can't thank you enough for what you have done for me.Today's experience taught me that I am not alone in feeling this way. Online hebrew school

Do you live too far from a religious
school for your
child to be educated in a
classroom environment?
Or are you unsatisfied with your
child's current religious school
education?
Do you miss parental involvement
 in your child's
Jewish learning?
Do the fights over conflicting
activities and carpooling
drive you crazy?
Does your child like learning via
 the computer?
Introducing the world's first and
only internet based
 Hebrew school,
for children ages 8-13. This
program utilizes information
available on the web, plus much
 of our own creation,
in a curriculum organized by us.
It assumes parent-child
engagement and cooperation in the
 learning process,
as they work through
the material.
-The latest direction in Jewish
education is geared
toward family involvement.
-The secular university is moving
 much more in the
direction of independent
learning as well as learning via
the web.
This article from the Chicago
tribune
recently helps explain:"one theme is a shift from a
passive model of
absorbing a lecturer's words to a
more active one
where lecturers guide
and measure, but students learn
the material more
independently.
"In a traditional course the
faculty are doing all the work and the students
are watching," said Carol Twigg,
president and CEO of the National
 Center
for Academic Transformation, which
 is working with hundreds of
universities
 to improve giant courses.
"In a redesigned course,
students are doing the
work and faculty are stepping
 in as needed."

Our programs is based on students
learning under parent
 supervision,
outside of the traditional
classroom, with support of a
teacher and tutor available to
assist.

-We also take advantage of the
revolution in communication-the
 resources
on the web, as well as the prolific Jewish educational
resources our Rabbi has created
 on the web.
We are also cognizant of the
overwhelming challenges
families today
face in juggling all the family
 needs. This program
allows the student and parents to
work at
their timetable and largely avoids the need to shlep.

-At the same time, there appears
to be less family
interactive activities today, and
especially
centered around Jewish living.
Many parents did not grow
up Jewishly or had very little
Jewish
 educations, so this will achieve
 multiple benefits.
This wil prove beneficial on both counts.
-Most importantly, evidence seems
clear that standard
religious schools in
their current format, achieve
little, and may even be
counter productive. This view
enjoys wide support
among Jewish educators. We believe childfren will learn
and retain more, and enjoy it more since it means
more parent time and,
interaction, uses a "cool" medium, and can be done at
 the families discretion
time-wise, obviating many
conflicts.

How it works
1. We send you the program via
 email. You purchase
the extra books needed from us.
You supervise your
 children's progress for each
step.
The curriculum is
 based on a monthly
pattern.
.
 A tutor is assigned
to your family. You can contact
 them as needed to help
with questions or elaboration.
 When you
have finished a unit, send in
the required work.
The teacher and aid are ready to
 help. If you live away,
the assistance will be by phone
and internet.
